When I wake up I splash my face with Anne Semonin Marine Tonic, it’s the best product. It feels like something fresh from the sea is waking up my skin. Then I use Anne Semonin Olgio Pure cream for hydration.

My mother is South African and we have these pills that we call African potato. They are a combination of African roots that support your immune system. So I take this every morning with some hot water and vitamin C.

I start my makeup with Lingerie de Peau foundation from Guerlain, it’s very delicate so it doesn’t look too heavy. I love the scent—all the Guerlain products smell amazing. For blush I use either Fred Farrugia or MAC. I always have a lipstick of the moment (laughs) my current obsession is Merlot by Laura Mercier. I use DiorShow mascara and that’s it.

Fleur D’Oranger is my thing, it’s such a delicate scent.

At night I clean my face and use three drops of Anne Semonin Precious Serum. In fact Anne Semonin says that you should never use cream at night and I think she is right, it’s good for your skin to breathe a little. And of course I put Eight Hour Cream on my lips before bed.”

I’m the beauty editor of the dot com so I work really closely with the print beauty team as well as online. We mirror what print does but we move at a faster pace posting things every day. I will be revamping their dot com beauty section and making it a destination for people to come and get tips and how tos, interviews, everything dot com that you can think of (laughs) if that makes sense, does that even make sense.

I love doing the videos, that’s my passion, and coming from a makeup artist perspective I really enjoy giving tips. A lot of sites give you the newest and the best and I like to get a little bit more into it and go beyond the press release. I test everything so I can speak to them all. The beauty industry is so fickle so a lot of people have a hard time choosing products; there is a new red lipstick every five minutes so having a good knowledge of it helps.

I don’t have brand loyalty, but I tend to stick to brands that are more independent. They can really devote their resources to making their products better. I love Chanel skin care because before they send anything to market they send it to a lab outside of ones they own to test it. A lot of the brands that I use are more independently run.

In the winter I like to mix Jergens unscented body lotions with a Tocca body balm. The Tocca balm smells really nice but it can smell overly scented so that’s a really easy way I counterbalance the smell. I don’t like unnatural scents and my nose is really particular so I can smell the alcohol in a lot of fragrances. I actually mix two perfumes together The Commes de Garcons Red Series fragrance  called Sequoia and then Miller et Bertaux fragrance called For You. I do three squirts of each and that’s my signature scent, I’ve been wearing it for years. It’s really layered, kind of spicy, kind of floral, kind of light. I can’t smell it throughout the day but I can smell it on my clothes and it smells so good to me.

I have so much lip stuff. I tend to wear Laura Mercier Natural Lips lip liner with a balm the most. I like nude glosses and darker lipsticks. The Aerin Lauder nude lip-glosses are beautiful. If I’m going red, a favorite is Dolce and Gabbana Iconic or Tom Ford Violet Fatale for something deeper. The best red I have probably ever tried in my life is Victoria Secret’s Showstopper. I had never worn their lipsticks before and a few months ago I discovered this amazing red. The color looks good on everyone. Halloween Inspiration: An Andy Warhol masterpiece

The Face: Paint on MAC pigment in whimsical colors.

The Eyes: Use a dark liner to define your eyes and play them up with colorful pigments. Make sure to use a dark shade to enhance your brow and you can paint pigment over them for a solid finish.

The Lips: Go for a pop art inspired bright lip in red or pink like Nars Funny Face.

The Hair: Part your hair to the side then curl the ends inwards with a curling wand. Make sure to spray it in place for a long-lasting hold.

Halloween Inspiration: Futuristique

The Face: For glossy skin start with NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer.

The Eyes: Get a graphic eye by lining the sides of your lash line (not the middle) with a black liner like Via Veneto. Fill in the middle of your lash line and lid with an iridescent white like Santa Monica Blvd. Use a blending brush to blend the colors upwards.

The Lips: The neutral lip pencil from the show, Floralies Satin doesn’t launch until the spring, but for a similar effect try NARS matte lipstick in Tashkent.

The Hair: To get an easy zig-zag part use a fine rat tail comb and then slick your hair back into a pony tail. Finish it off with gel for a sleek look.

Halloween Inspiration: Marilyn Monroe

The Face: For  flawless skin Wendy Rowe started out with Burberry Sheer Foundation followed by their Sheer Concealer and then set it with pressed powder. For a hint of color use Burberry Glow (available in various shades). And since we are using the show as halloween inspiration go ahead and add Marilyn’s iconic mole by pressing a dark brown brow pencil into your left cheek above your mouth.

The Eyes: Apply a light layer of sheer shadow like Gold Trench to your lid before lining it with an earthy gold shade like No. 06.

The Lips: It’s only fitting to complete the look with the newly launched MAC Marilyn Monroe lipstick in Scarlet Ibis or Love Goddess.

The Hair: Top it all off with a blonde wig.

Halloween Inspiration: Zombie Babe

The Face: Prep your skin with a mattifying primer. Next, using a large powder brush, dust your face generously with a mineral powder.  To achieve the pale look make sure to use a powder that is a shade or two lighter than your natural color. Dust the powder all over making sure not to miss your ears and eyebrows.

The Eyes: Using a bright green shadow cover your lids and below your lash line. Shades like Lucky Green and Sunny Spot work well on light and dark eyes. Line your upper lash line  with a thin layer of brown liner. With a small blending brush smudge a brown shadow  below your brow bone and along your bottom lash line.

The Lips: For a muted zombie pout go for a a pale pink.

Halloween Inspiration: 1960’s Mod

The Face: Apply your normal foundation then dust your face generously with a mattifying powder.

The Eyes: For a dramatic smokey eye line your lash line with a black liner smudging it upwards and out towards your temple. Follow up with a graphic shadow. Eyeliner shadow combos like MAC’s limited edition Little Miss Moffet will work great for this.

The Lips: Opt for a bold red like Ruby Woo.

The Hair: Capturing the Mod  feeling is primarily about the hair. Go for a bobbed wig. And once you get home trim and shape it. To keep the hair in place spray the wig with hair spray before heading out.

I loved the Karen Walker show, all the girls had huge bangs that they could barely see out of; I actually really want to cut big bangs myself now. I also loved the peachy lips the girls were all rocking.

That night I slept pretty badly. So I woke up and applied a lot of Ren Active 7 Radiant Gel on my not-so-well-rested eyes. This kept me looking tiptop while I did the music for Naeem Khan’s show. Luckily it went amazingly well, but it’s pretty scary doing the music for such a big show — its definitely a major responsibility.

Before the show, I ducked backstage to wish Naeem good luck, and slip into my Naeem Khan dress.

Suno was incredible. The prints and silhouettes were beautiful as always. I had a blast dj-ing their after-party in a cool Chinatown loft.

I had to snap a picture of my shoes while en route to deejay the Monika Chaing presentation. My trick to wearing high shoes throughout fashion week is to never get a pedicure the week before. It definitely helps when they aren’t baby soft!

Later in the week I went to the Interview Magazine dinner at Milk Studios. By this point I was absolutely exhausted. Some Laura Mercier concealer under my eyes saved the day! “I feel like I am always running late. I wake up in the morning and usually scrunch some Bumble and Bumble cream in my hair, throw on some makeup and run out the door. I always put on sunscreen before I leave though. I like La Roche-Posay, it’s the best. I use two different types of mascara. I am a big drugstore mascara fan. With pigments, like lipsticks and concealers, I go NARS, but for mascara I’m into Maybelline Great Lash. I go through it so quickly and it works so well. I put on one coat of thinner mascara first, then drink a cup of coffee and then put on another coat of Maybelline. It makes my eyelashes look larger which is crazy, but it works much better than using two coats of the same mascara. I use Bare Minerals foundation because it’s simple And my eyebrows are kind of their own little monsters. I don’t really do anything to them. Occasionally, I’ll go and get them threaded if I’m looking seriously Groucho Marx. But I’m into the Brooke Shields eyebrow look, so usually I’ll just brush them out..”

“I like to wear lipstick a lot. I love Mulberry by Laura Mercier. The color is perfect for the day; a deep red stain. It looks natural, like you’ve just been drinking wine all morning. It’s a nice way to start the day. I got into Funny Face by NARS, too. I am a total NARS junkie. I’ve loved them forever, all their colors!”

“Before I go to bed at night I use a small amount of retinol cream and Egyptian Magic. You put it on before you go to bed at night and it’s amazing. My mom got this eye cream off the Home Shopping Network called Glymed. It’s so hilarious, but it works amazingly. The packaging is awful but it’s like rubbing a cloud underneath your eyes. I still use that. I have yet to find a better eye cream than Glymed, oddly. That’s it really. I’m pretty simple with my beauty routine. I don’t really have the time to get so crazy with it. I stick to the basics.”

“I am very very tired in the morning [laughs] so I put a lot of ice-cold water on my face when I wake up. Then I use the Daily Microfoliant by Dermalogica so I don’t dehydrate my skin. I don’t like when people write about things that they have never tried, so I try a lot of different products. For the last year I’ve been trying Ole Henriksen, it’s a Danish brand that is really famous. They use a lot of natural ingredients, I like their orange serum with sea vitamins. They also have an Herbal Day Cream with sunscreen, which I always try to wear.”

“I wash my hair two or three times a week, so I’m a big fan of dry shampoos [laughs]. I use a lot of different ones:  Karl Lagerfeld’s favorite, Kisby and then Batiste and Kevin Murphy. I really have to have that in the morning.”

“When I was a teenager I had problem skin so I am obsessive about it. If there is enough time I like to use a primer before I start my makeup. I also have this amazing pore minimizing product by Clinique. It’s a classic that they have had for many years. You just put it on your t-zone and it takes away your pores. Next I use Tinted Moisturizer by Laura Mercier. Then I usually use cream blush, I like Topshop’s versions. I also wear some light reflecting concealer. If I want a budget version I buy L’Oréal Touche Magique and if not I use YSL Touche Éclat. Sometimes I use a bronzer and my budget one is from the Body Shop but the best ones are by Nouba.”

“I was brought up by my mother who is really into beauty; she likes all the big brands likes Lancôme and Guerlain. I always try to find budget versions that can be just as good. I never buy expensive mascara; Max Factor 2,000 Calorie mascara is a classic and probably the most sold in Sweden. I always try with makeup to do as I do with clothes, I’m not going to pay just for the brand. I invest in what touches my skin, like foundation or moisturizer but with eyeliner I will use one from H&M and it works great.”

“I do my nails myself and for nail polish I like the Butter London ones a lot.”

“Sometimes at work we have lipstick Fridays. I love lipstick and usually only wear ones by MAC but I try different ones. When I want something extra but don’t want to put on a dress I can just throw on a lipstick. I’m obsessed with orange and it is great because it makes your teeth look whiter.”

“We are just now launching our fine jewelry collection, Blac Diamonds. We were always fans of black diamond jewelry, designing and collecting pieces on our own and for friends, so it seemed natural to launch our own collection. Our first pieces include tennis bracelets, studs, hoops and eternity bands that are all set in white or rose gold, or our signature “blackout” Rhodium …we aim to produce quality timeless jewels with an edge.”

“In the morning I start off by cleansing with Neutrogena face wipes and then use the Ahava Rich Cleansing Cream and La Mer moisturizer. For makeup I use Chanel Soleil de Tan, the NARS Laguna bronzer and Orgasm blush duo and YSL Shocking mascara. OPI Black Onyx is my staple for my nails. I use Organix Morocaan Oil shampoo and conditioner and then let my hair dry naturally out of the shower. My go-to, quick-fix product is Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer - and a pair of sunglasses – and I’m out the door.”

“In the morning, I cleanse with Cetaphil and when I have time I use the Neutrogena Wave Sonic cleanser. At night, I use the SabonMud Mask and in the shower I use the Sabon Lemon Mint Body scrub. I’ve been cutting my own bangs recently and use Morrocan Oil before I blow dry. In terms of makeup, I happen to love the Sephora brand mineral double compact – I take it with me everywhere I go. Otherwise, I use Armani foundation, Chanel eyeliners and YSL mascara.”

“The one product that makes me feel amazing is red lipstick. I wear it even in the morning sometimes. I love Tom Ford Cherry Lush or the infamous NARS Jungle Red. I always wear red nail polish no matter what season. I rarely stray, but if I do, its for Christian Dior’s black nail polish or Tom Ford’s Bitter Bitch; both were gifts from friends!”

“I wake up in the morning and have my green tea which I think is good for my skin. Then I start putting my Avène, it’s like a fresh water. Then I clean myself and use my cream of Avène. I was not using Avène before but it was recommended and I like the smell.”

“I am a big big fan of perfumes, my best are: Annick Goutal, Jo Malone, Diptyque and Creed. I have all the different kinds but I never use commercial ones. I always try to look for something very special, perfumes avec des fleurs. I just found a new one that I like with white flowers. I change them a lot because I like to go back and smell them. It’s like a film, it reminds you of everything, the person, how, where-it’s funny. I love that.”

“I like the Laura Mercier concealer because it comes in a box with two colors. Since my skin is a little bit dry I use another one that is more creamy from the pharmacy, La Roche Posay. I use a bit of black on my eyes, but very natural. I’m not so much about mascara, just on stage. I use the Burberry one they offered me. I try to be very natural, never looking like I have too much on.”

“Sometimes during the day I wear lipstick but at night I always wear lipstick. I use CHANEL, which I love and I really like the smell of their lipsticks. I’m using also MAC, which stays on all night long because it’s makeup for shows — that’s what I use on stage.”

“I use Bioderma to take off my makeup at night and then Avène spray again. I use some special stuff from the dermatologist, but I don’t even know what is it, but it burns [laughs]. I also use a cream which is pretty crazy, it’s for when your skin is being bad. It’s not really working right now, because I’ve been drinking a lot of wine [laughs].  Then I go to bed and hope that when I wake up something’s going to happen.”

“When I wake up in the morning the first thing I’ll do is wash my face with SkinMedica Facial Cleanser and then I’ll usually put a serum on. I’m using one right now from a company called 3Lab, I just got a sample of it so I’m testing it out. I’ll put eye cream and moisturizer on also by Skin Medica. I really like how my skin responds to the line. As I get older I’m definitely more conscious of products that are anti-aging to protect my skin. I heard that this is a great line and I bought a bunch of their products and have slowly been integrating them into my routine.”

“In spring, summer and fall I will always put a thirty SPF on my face before using Armani Designer Lift Foundation. I sometimes mix it with Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer or the Armani Face Fabric. During the day I don’t use concealer (touché éclait) very much, I save that for the evening. But I wear mascara during the day, I love the Fiber Wig from d.j.v. I think the only place you can get it is at Sephora. I only wear eyeliner at night, and I’ll only wear black eyeliner with a little bit of a bronze eye shadow. I’ll rim my eyes with the bronze to make them glow a bit more when it mixes with the black. For blush I like something that has a transparency and just makes my cheeks look a bit flushed and rosy. I’ll either use the Tarte Cheek Stain or Benetint.”

“For my lips I usually use chapstick, Dermalogica actually [laughs]. This is so cheesy, but whenever I travel overseas, I love all those samples they give. All my little Dermalogica lip balms are always from traveling, and I always save the little hand creams, sounds so corny but it’s true [giggles]. If I wear lipstick though, it’s always red. I line my lips with the NARS Dragon Girl and then put MAC Ruby Woo over it. The Dragon Girl has more blue in it. Ruby Woo is great  (I love matte lips) but sometimes it can be too cakey and too matte. I feel like the Dragon Girl gives it a little bit more moisture but still keeps the matte finish.”

“I’ll always wash my face at night and right now I have eye makeup remover from Sephora. But with the fiber wig, if I just wash my face with SkinMedica the fibers peel right off. I’ll only use eye makeup remover if I’m wearing eyeliner. I also like to use a Retinol cream at night but lately I’ve been finding it to be too drying. So I alternate and use it every so often before bed.”
