While doing a trend report for the babes at Elle.com I couldn’t help noticing all the floral inspired launches this season. From peony polish to violet lip lacquer, spring makeup is all about pretty hues plucked from the garden. I rounded up some of my favorite picks inspired by flowers to get your routine in full bloom.
VIOLETTE FEMMES:
If you are feeling daring, let a lavender hue take center stage by trying a bold, smoky iris eye. For a more subtle accent, violet lip gloss and purple nail polish are easy ways to wear the trend.
Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in Iris Blossom, $42; clarins.com; Dior Vernis Nail Lacquer in Purple Revolution, $24; nordstrom.com ; Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Violet Rose, $24; sephora.com (all pictured above)

PRETTY IN PINK:
Shades of blush abound this season from soft roses to peony pinks. Try a poppy-hued nail polish or highlight your cupid’s bow and cheekbones with a subtle, shimmery powder.
Aerin Floral Illuminating Powder, $55; neimanmarcus.com; Dior Cherie Bow Addict Lipstick, $31; nordstrom.com; Valentino Valentina Assoluto Eau de Parfum, $88; nordstrom.com; Jin Soon Nail Polish in French Lilac, $18; bloomingdales.com; M.A.C Pearlmatte – Baking Beauties’ Face Powder in Pink Buttercream, $30; nordstrom.com; Guerlain Meteorites Perles du Paradis Illuminating Sparkling Powder, $70; nordstrom.com (all pictured above).

Last night two of the biggest fashion parties of the year took place: The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Finalist Event and the FGI Night of the Stars gala. I caught up with Snob Global Media’s adorable mastermind, Tina Craig, who flew in to attend the latter event as honoree Derek Lam’s personal guest. We talked beauty, her latest denim collaboration and commiserated over traveling with carry-on luggage and all while getting ready in under thirty minutes.

“It’s very exciting to be in town for the FGI gala with Derek Lam, he’s winning the designer honoree award. It’s a short but very busy trip. When I fly back home I have the DL x Bag Snob, Snob Essential Jeans launching at Neiman Marcus. The collection has all my favorite styles. So I have a lot of amazing projects going on at the moment. This morning I spoke on a panel about how brands can work together with social media. I am only here for a couple days so I had to be smart with my packing.”

“I knew I was going to the gala so I brought my powerful three-tiered Hello Kitty container and it has three different colors of Mac Studio Sculpt. You cannot take photos without this; it is the world’s best foundation. It makes you look fresh and smooth. I never leave the house without my Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer it’s just a lifesaver. Blush Horizon Chanel is amazing I wear it day and night because the colors are graduated. And I love my Bobbi Brown lip-glosses I have them in every color and the little ones fit perfectly in my evening bag.”

“Of course I brought my Princess Lee lashes from Taiwan they feel like real hairs. Usually you can see the ugly line on fake lashes but these are really natural. I’m going to wear them with my Burberry mascara tonight, which has been an incredible discovery. As a finishing touch I’ll wear some of the new Hermès perfume, it hasn’t launched yet but they gave me a bunch of samples that are great for traveling.”

And voila the finished product!

"I’m a fashion designer and I like it because I get to make things all day long! When I was growing up what I wanted to be would change from time to time: an artist (this meant a painter), a gymnast, a sculptor, a runner, then back to a painter. It was never anything conventional or realistic."

“When I wake up in the morning I eat a snack and drink a cup of tea. Then I head out for a run followed by the gym or pilates. My beauty routine starts out with Cetaphil moisturizer and then RoC under eye serum.”

“For makeup I use Chanel Sheer Illuminator or Makeup Forever’s HD Primer, but only if I will be wearing makeup all day. Next I use some Bo-iing concealer by Benefit and Bobbi Brown Pressed Powder in white. I line my eyes with black pencil liner and then use Estee Lauder’s Lash Primer Plus. I alternate between Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes mascara and Maybelline Great Lash, the one that comes in the pink and green bottle. And finally I use MAC liquid liner to make dots and lines around my eyes and I’m done.”

“My favorite beauty brands are Make-up Forever, Bobbi Brown, Benefit and MAC. I can’t live without eyeliner, candy corn and raw nut mix.”

“When I think about beautiful memories I often think about a walk that my grandma (Bear) would take me on as a child. We would leave her house and walk up the road past two different cemeteries and then turn left onto a hidden dirt path that wound through the forest. It led to an open field of daffodils and an abandoned wooden shack. She’d tell me that ‘Old Man Lochi’ had lived there years before.”

“My favorite salon is Dop Dop. My friend Cesar is the creative director there and is the only person who can get my hair this shade. Cesar and his team also do amazing work on my fashion shows.”
