All serums are not created equal and Transderma’s vitamin serums are royalty in my book. I rarely leave the country without their ‘A’ and ‘M’ in my bag. I caught up with their founder, Graziella over lunch at the Grand Hotel on her latest trip to Stockholm.–

“I did my schooling between South America and Italy and came back to the United States when I was twenty-two. One of the things that struck me was that so many people I knew were always returning their skin care products. And no matter how much makeup you put on you need to take care of your skin foremost. After working in law for several years I decided to get into beauty. So I started to investigate the market and what I found was that a lot of the products were too harsh and left me looking red or oily. I knew that I wanted to start a brand so I approached Ronlán’ who was working in Bio-Organic Chemistry. I wanted to know how to best infuse Vitamin C into the Dermis layer safely and effectively. If we could do this then we would be able to clear the skin. So, our first Transderma Serum, ‘C’ was born.

I wash my face in the morning with Lactacyd and my Clarisonic. I do love my Clarisonic, I think I own four or five at this point (laughs). I have one for travel and then keep one in each of my three homes. Once my skin dries I apply either Transderma C or Transderma R serums. I use ‘R’ because even though I’m a brunette I tend to freckle and spot. In the winter I use Transderma M for an extra coating of moisture once my C or R is absorbed.

After I apply my serums I usually sit down with a cup of coffee and the paper for a few minutes to let everything settle before starting my makeup. I savor this time in the morning. I think that taking that fifteen or twenty minutes for yourself to start the day is critical. The first product I reach for is always my Touche Éclat concelear pen. Then I apply my foundation with a sponge—never my fingers. I am very particular about bases. Clinique Soft Finish Foundation is my current favorite. It is a fragrance free liquid foundation with a really gentle formula. If I’m looking for more coverage Max Factor Miracle Touch is wonderful. It smoothes my skin and really creates a seamless base. They don’t sell Max Factor in the States anymore so I have  to load up when I’m in Europe. For a touch of bronzer on my cheeks I like to do a light dusting of Chanel Les Beiges.

In terms of eye makeup I use Lancôme Art Eyeliner during the day and depending on my schedule may add an eyeshadow. I love Chanel and Dior shadow quartets they are great for travel. My favorite neutral shades are grays but I do like to mix it up for the seasons; I’m experimenting with blue at the moment . I’m a mascara loyalist; I’ve been using Maybelline Great Lash since I was sixteen years old. That mascara has always been amazing in all of its varied incarnations. My latest mascara obsession is YSL Faux Cils, which adds volume to my lashes and doesn’t clump. My favorite red lipstick are YSL Rouge Pur Couture.

In the evening I always remove my makeup before cleansing. I like Albolene makeup remover, it’s used to remove theatrical makeup so you know I really gets everything off. I am very careful when removing product around my eyes go and in with a q-tip so I don’t end up rubbing them. After all my makeup is off I wash my face with my Clarisonic. I pat my skin dry and before bed I apply Transderma A. I let that absorb before using Transderma M on my face, eyes, neck and hands. The hands and décolletage are critical!”
